If you have a shed load of bicycle tyres, for example, you would probably be better off marketing them in the classifieds section of the local paper. Or you could advertise a one-off garage sale of cheap bicycle tyres or you could take them to a car boot sale. In your spare time, you could make a small web site, but in this example off line sales are more probable than on line sales.

If however, you hook up with a bicycle tyre company that is willing to drop-ship (ie deliver) from their warehouse for you then a car boot or garage sale is useless to you. In this instance, you should go straight on line, create an automated sales and payment processing page and promote it on line by the various methods available.

If you really want to, you could back up the on line sales with a bit of off line marketing. For example, you could put a postcard in the newsagent’s window promoting that your web site has a stock of cheap bicycle tyres that can be delivered to the customers’ door. Then imply add the URL of your website.

Your sales marketing strategy must be tailored to what you are attempting to sell. Jim Rohn, the late, great American business philosophy, was one of the greatest teachers about what creating a successful MLM business (and a successful life, for that matter) that I ever had the privilege to learn from. Although I never had the good fortune to meet him in person, his work has continued to serve me in many ways. I rarely go through a day without finding a way to apply a less that I learned from Jim.

One of his more basic lessons was on the importance of Strength in Numbers. He taught that it is possible of a network marketer with less skill to produce more than one with more skill. The less skilled person only needs to take more action. For example, if a person was only able to enroll on out of every ten prospects he talked to, he could still enroll more prospects into his business than a person that enrolled one out of every three, simply by talking to enough people. This is pretty straightforward stuff.

In looking at this same scenario, however, what would happen if the less skilled marketer maintained that level of activity while continuing to hone his craft every day? What if he continued to present his business to the same number of prospects while investing time daily for study and for personal development? You’d likely see a gradual, consistent improvement his sponsoring ratios, resulting over time in an incredible growth in his business.

This illustrates the importance of making a habit of daily study and personal development. One of the most important times of the day is the time you set aside for this. It’s one of the small behavioral differences between performers and non-performers that results in drastically different results over time. It can be the difference between eking out a meager profit (if any at all) or realizing jaw-dropping success.

Not only is this time important because of the significant impact it has on your bottom line, but it also directly impacts your ability to serve others. Remember Zig Ziglar’s words, “You can have anything you want as long as you help enough other people get what they want.” We profit most in network marketing by serving and providing value to others.
